Counselling, Psychotherapy, Coaching & Wellness Services

Counselling, Psychotherapy, Coaching & Wellness Services

Welcome to Two Rivers Care & Consulting. I’m a registered nurse, licensed in both Ontario and Quebec, with 20+ years of experience working in chronic illness and critical care (intensive care, perinatal nursing, neonatology, lactation care, patient education) for a wide variety of people and concerns. Along with my background in psycho-education, counseling, and wellness programming, I offer online psychotherapy and coaching sessions to my clients as a Certified Holistic Nurse Coach and Licensed Nurse Psychotherapist.

My Services

Psychotherapy

I offer clients one-on-one virtual psychotherapy services. Online sessions are held from the comfort and safety of your own home (or any other place).

Coaching

Have you ever worked with a certified nurse coach to improve your life? Nurse coaches recognize the client as the expert of their care and their innate ability to self-heal.

Walk & Talk Therapy

A nature walk can ground a person’s mind in the present moment. It can alleviate distress and anxiety so clients feel a sense of “centering” and more clarity in thinking.

Culinary Therapy

Cooking can indeed be a form of meditation, and like any other mindfulness practice, culinary therapy is about living in the present moment, giving it your full mental and physical attention and loosing yourself in the process.

Cooking Workshops

Healthy living starts in the kitchen. It all begins with the food we eat. In fact, food acts as medicine. A healthy diet helps us to maintain good health and prevent disease, and there is growing awareness of these benefits.

Wellness Retreats

Feeling burnt out, anxious or just need to slow down? Need to unplug from stressors? Feel like life is passing you by? Enjoy a Two Rivers Care and Consulting wellness retreat.

Heart-centred healing

I believe in the transformative power of the heart and my mission is to provide you a safe and nurturing space to explore your emotional journey. Each person’s path to well-being is unique. I believe compassion, genuine connection and empathy are the foundation of positive change.

Evidence-based care

I uphold the highest standards of evidence-based care and have trained in the latest research-informed approaches and therapeutic techniques to ensure you receive the most effective, scientifically-supported care.

Providing the right support, when you need it most.

Sometimes it takes more than a friend or self-care book to understand how to heal. Whether you’re unable to communicate with someone you love, no longer able to cope with a traumatic event, grappling with ongoing depression, anxiety or the effects of chronic illness and pain…

I can help.

My Areas of Focus

In addition to trauma training that I have completed at McGill University, the Canadian Trauma-Informed Practice Institute, Imagine Institute and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, my professional training includes a Bachelors in Psychology (specializations: neuropsychology, developmental psychology and child psychology) and a Masters in Nursing from McGill University,.

I have completed post graduate training in various counselling modalities and approaches, and am a certified Holistic Nurse Coach and Consultant. I am also currently completing an internationally-recognized and accredited Breathwork Facilitator training with the Alchemy of Breath to broaden my offerings to clients.

I am licensed to practice nursing in both Ontario and Quebec, and am in good standing with both the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as well as with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ). I speak English and French.

I provide mental health support, psychotherapy and coaching for the following areas:

  • Stress & Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Life Transitions
  • Depression
  • Self Esteem and Body Image
  • Relationships
  • Addition/substance use recovery
  • Lifestyle changes (nutrition, sleep, movement)
  • Work-life balance/integration
  • Bereavement & loss

Why work with a nurse?

I provide holistic, client-centered care that is collaborative and informed by up-to-date evidence-based approaches and therapies. I treat the whole person, not just the body or symptoms.

I’ve had 20+ combined years of experience working in chronic illness and critical care (intensive care, perinatal nursing, neonatology, lactation care, patient education) for a wide variety of people and concerns. I am guided by nursing theory and knowledge of mental health, illness, body systems and medication.

My background in psycho-education, counseling, wellness programming, meditation, and mindfulness practice has also allowed me to blend Western health care approaches with Eastern traditions into an integrated practice, recognizing the mind-body-spirit-environment connection. Using this approach, I offer my clients a safe space to be brave, engage in self-discovery and find healing.

First-time doing therapy? Here’s how it works…

Step One

Book a free discovery call through this website, via email, text or call. We’ll have a (15-20-minute) meeting to go over your questions and to gather information about your needs, preferences, and goals.

Step Two

The right support, at the right time

Based on the information shared, we’ll craft a personalized care plan together that resonates with your heart and needs. If there’s something specific you have in mind, you will have opportunity to share this. You feeling seen and heard is key to your progress.

Step Three

The first session

Our first, intake appointment will be an exploratory session. We will have a supportive and focused conversation that will help you explore your goals in more depth. Your benefit plan or private health insurance may cover some of the cost.  Some insurance providers cover these services under RN psychotherapy services or under private nursing benefits. Some insurance companies will only cover a registered psychotherapist, who is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Speak with your insurance provider if you have questions about your coverage.

A registered psychotherapist is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). This is different than a registered nurse psychotherapist. As a nurse psychotherapist, I have the education and skills to practice coaching and psychotherapy, guided by my knowledge of mental health, illness, body systems and medication, and using a holistic nursing lens. Ontario-licensed nurses can choose to be registered with the CRPO, however, as per nurse regulatory requirements and Ontario provincial legislation, this is not a requirement. I am registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing. This licences me to practice in this coaching and psychotherapy within the province of Ontario.
