My Process

New to coaching and/or therapy? Getting started is easy. Here’s how it works.

Appointments

Appointments are usually Monday to Friday. Other times and days may be available, though, so please contact me for my current availability.

Virtual vs in-person sessions

Virtual psychotherapy and coaching sessions take place online, using a platform such as Zoom. Walk & talk therapy takes place in-person or via telephone. Breathwork sessions are a mix of virtual and in-person sessions. The fees and length of sessions are the same for video, telephone and in-person counselling.

Culinary therapy and retreats are in-person events.

*Nurse psychotherapy services are currently only available to residents of Ontario, Canada.

Cancellations

Life happens and sometime we need to cancel. Please provide 24 hours’ notice. Within 24 hours, a 50% cancellation fee may apply.

The first session

Our first session will be an exploratory session during which we can have a supportive and focused conversation that will help you explore your goals in more depth. We will delve into what you would like to get from counselling and/or coaching, go over any questions that you might have. At the end of the session, you can decide if you would like to continue. If you feel that it would be valuable for you to continue, we can arrange to meet again.

To allow for this discussion, please set aside 1.5 hours for this first session. All our other sessions will be one hour long.

Length of sessions

Usually, we can continue sessions for as long as you feel it is worthwhile. For some people just a few sessions is sufficient, while others might come for longer. We’ll talk regularly about how it’s going but you can of course end counselling at any time.

Fees

The fee is $175.00 for a 1hr session.

**Are you looking for affordable counselling? Do you need someone to talk to, but are worried about fees? Maybe you do not have private insurance, are experiencing income reduction or financial hardship. Whatever your situation might be, the cost of therapy shouldn’t keep you from getting the help you need. Please inquire about sliding scale offerings.

Confidentiality

Please note that all sessions are confidential. This means that I will not share any information about you with a third party unless you consent to that disclosure. I will not tell anyone that you are my client, or what you say during sessions, without your explicit permission to do so.

There are some unique circumstances when I am ethically and legally bound to share information about you, even if you do not agree. These are:

  • If there is a serious concern for your or someone else’s safety, particularly if a child is at risk of serious harm.

  • If there is a legal obligation relating to your involvement in, or knowledge of, a serious crime.

  • If there is a court order requesting information about you.

  • If it is essential to prevent a serious and imminent threat to either public health or national security.

Where possible, though, I will always seek your consent before sharing any information.

Whether an in-person or virtual session, I will always be in a private room where you cannot be seen or heard by anyone else.

For video sessions: While video call platforms offer degrees of security and encryption, it is not possible to guarantee how the companies providing these services will handle data relating to the call. Also, with some platforms, it might mean both the call and your number is logged on my device. All the files that I keep (e.g., clinical notes, your personal information) are kept on a laptop that is password protected, as are the files.

If you have any questions or would like more details, please get in touch.
